This is a jacquard “edition” of the original weaving. Much like print making traditions, I have woven limited editions made at a more accessible price point.
It’s so pleasant to see my work at this scale with this interpretation. It makes me fantasize of being a part of a tapestry workshop and producing large scale works. This is now a rarity.
The colors differ from the original due to the set colors in the warp and weft. The warp is a multi color combination and the weft yarns are black and white. The weave structure determines how the hue appears.
The blankets are meant to be used functionally. They can be hung but I prefer these to be washed and loved for warmth and comfort.
I am only making five of these editions.
The original tapestry of Glitch was a play on P.Cyans, a composition of a spore print from Psilocybe cyanescens, a psychedelic mushroom with the common name Wavy Cap. These fungi emerge from coastal woody strata in the fall. They are most often brown, with a dark violet spore print. If bruised, they will show a blue hue. During the process of creating P. Cyans, the composition of Glitch emerged. The palette and interpretation were an interesting study and diverged from my usual work.
